Gear & Clothing
Backpack(s) – No roller suitcases; must be easy to carry (about .25 mile)
Hiking boots – Worn-in, waterproof boots for rugged terrain (if you plan on hiking)
Mountaineering equipment - Your discretion. The glacier can be accessed and traversed without technical equipment for those familiar with this type of terrain.
Warm layers – Merino wool or synthetic base layers, fleece/mid-layers, insulated jacket
Waterproof jacket & pants – Essential for staying dry in unpredictable weather
Gloves & hat – Insulated for warmth, plus lighter gloves for dexterity
Extra socks & underwear – Wool or synthetic (avoid cotton)
Mosquito net (as desired)
Gaiters (optional) – Helps keep debris out of boots
Map, compass, & GPS (optional) – Helpful for off-trail exploring
Trekking poles - Helpful for steep terrain
Sunglasses
Sauna attire - dealer’s choice!
Headlamp - not necessary June, July, or August
Emergency communication device or personal beacon (like InReach) - if you plan to adventure during your stay we strongly recommend bringing an emergency communication device. If you do not own one, please let us know.
Food & Cooking Supplies
All food & snacks – No meals provided; plan meals for the duration of your stay
Water bottle & personal filtration (optional) – Drinking water is hauled in, but if you plan to go on long adventures from the hut we recommend some sort of water filtration option.
